If there is another attraction or tour so readily associated with the city of Cancun as the Jolly
Roger Pirate Show we have never heard of it; this pirate show has been a perennial favorite
with Cancun old guards and new blood alike. Not only is this trip famous, but it is the gold
standard in quality, as the many different awards and recognitions it has received as well as the
hundreds (if not thousands) of positive reviews will attest to. Perhaps most significantly,
however, the Jolly Roger Pirate Show has received both the Travellers Choice Award and the
Certificate of Excellence from TripAdvisor.
If you want to know just what this means take a look below at the details surrounding these
awards:
Certificate of Excellence
The Certificate of Excellence was founded by TripAdvisor in 2010 and is awarded to the top
10% of businesses in each category (so long as they meet the minimum requirement criteria).
This means that you can be sure the recipients are established, consistent, and that they have
the travellers seal of approval.
To qualify for a Certificate of Excellence any business must;
● Maintain an overall rating of at least four out of five stars
● Meet the required number of total reviews needed to be in the running
● Have been listed on the site (TripAdvisor) for over a year.
Travelers’ Choice
First established in 2002 the Travellers Choice awards are not only the highest award which
TripAdvisor can bestow, some of the most prestigious and sought after awards in the travel and
tourism industry. This is because they are the only awards which are based not on critic
opinions, but on millions of reviews and travellers opinions; as such they are seen to be the
most representative awards when it comes to quality, service, and customer satisfaction. The
Travellers Choice awards are awarded by category, e.g. hotels, restaurants, attractions, etc.
TripAdvisor does not just consider these things, however; they also consider the overall
popularity of the attraction when choosing which businesses to Award. This means that the
number of recent reviews has as much of an impact as the overall number.
